Academic year: September to August.
Admission requirements. Foreign students should have the following qualifications or their equivalent: (a) Caribbean Examinations Council General Proficiency Certificate (Grades I and II); (b) General Certificate of Education with five O-level passes; five subjects including English language at not more than 2 sittings. In the Faculty of Social Sciences passes in English language and mathematics are compulsory.
Immigration requirements. Foreign students must have a student visa.
Language proficiency required. The language of instruction at the University of Guyana is English. Orientation courses are provided for foreign students.
Monetary unit: dollar (G$).
Expenses for one academic year. US$4,000 for first degree (tuition fee only).

Accommodation service for foreign students. The Students Welfare Division of the university keeps a register of persons willing to rent rooms, flats, apartments or houses to students. The university requires official documentation from sponsors, central banks, etc., showing that foreign students will be completely financed throughout their period of study.
